computer randomly freezes/drops fps for a second on non graphic intensive games (league of legends + heroes of the storm)

its been going on for a long time but i dont remember if it was doing it when i first build built my pc. i just re installed windows 8 and updated everything including 8.1. installed newest driver for gpu.

CPU: i7-4770k
RAM: 16 GB G.Skill Tridents
GPU: MSI GTX 970
PSU: Corsair AX860i
CPU Cooler: Corsair h100i
SSD: Samsung 840 EVO 250 GB

using afterburner i didnt notice anything change during the fps drops other then it showing my fps dropped.

i removed my gpu and and tried league of legends with my intergrated graphics and it still happens so i dont think its my gpu.

i did notice that it almost always happens right before/when i die in league of legends and whenever an objective is obtained in heroes of the storm.

NOTE: im playing these games on lowest settings and it still happens

please help, this is really annoying. thanks

the symptom you are describing sounds like a loading time delay, usually caused by a hard drive that is on its way out. From the situation you describe, it's quite possible that your WD Green is either slow to be accessed, or may be erroring.

Try installing the game on your SSD and see if it exhibits the same lag spikes.

bought it new from amazon

although the games are installed on a WD green from years ago that i was using as storage.

thanks, never thought about my hdd lol. i g2g somewhere but i will try it when i get back and let you know.
