Please help me with a little information, as *what do multiple cores mean* and if that processor will fit with no problem, just take out the old one and put that in, and how much of an improvement gaming wise would i get going from the dual core 2.0 to a quad core 2.3?

Screen sresolution max is 1600x1200 i just run it at 1280x768

And thank you for your time, i appreciate this.

I'm going to guess you're using a 7750 or something in that area, since it was rebranded later into the 200 series. In that case you'll be similar to this guy in that game:

He's playing a 1600x900 with an i3. The i3 will be better than the Core 2 Quad I linked you, but you work with what you have. In the end I think you should get playable performance with your current setup, and for $37 that processor is a pretty nice upgrade, even though it's old.

If you really wanted to improve your experience you can always add in a GTX 750 Ti to your build and up your memory to 8gb.

Thanks for all the help! but i have one last question please, bare with me. I heard i could have performance issues if things are not up to date, is there a way i can run a full system check? such as bios updates, vid cards etc, without all the paying and spyware and things?
