Hello. I'm currently considering getting an xfx r9 280. However, there are two models.

Model 1: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150705&cm_re=xfx_r9_280-_-14-150-705-_-Product

Model 2: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150706&cm_re=R9280ATDFD-_-14-150-706-_-Product

Model one seems to have better specs in every aspect, and is cheaper - but the price being higher of model 2 is throwing me off... is there something I missed? It seems like model 1 is a clear winner to me but being cheaper is really throwing me off. Thanks for any help.

Also, while on topic - is xfx's lifetime warranty truly lifetime? and if anyone has any experience with this, could you give me any info on it? This alone is one of my higher reasons for considering these particular cards.

Solution
^ so does model 1 !

Go with the cheaper option - its the same card.
They've always said lifetime warranty but I've always been dubious.

You definitely get 5 years though - in which time the 280 will probably be so out of date it don't matter.

Btw - id buy that dirt rally key off you if its a game that doesn't interest you - so you could knock another $20 off ;)

Huh that's kinda odd... Wonder why the other one is more expensive, for seemingly worse specs? lower on everything across the board, I just can't see anything to warrant a price increase.

Madmatt30: Honestly, if I end up going with that card and we can find out a trustworthy way to trade money/game code that neither one of us end up getting scammed, I'd gladly sell it to you. Racing game's just aren't my cup of tea.

On the topic of the free game, does anyone know how it works? Because I recently purchased a gtx 960 that "supposedly" came with the witcher 3, but there was no code in the box. I emailed MSI (card manufacturer) a few times and they haven't responded to me once so I'm kinda weary about these freebies.

Because it's on sale. There is a clear indication "you save $60" belowthe price and you can even get additional $20 rebate :)

Get the black edition, great price.

As for the warranty, I have not had any experiences with lifetime warranties from any manufacturer - mainly because I never keep the same card for a lifetime, and tend to change them every year or so.

Ha. Yeah, I guess sometimes the most obvious answer is as simple as that. I guess I just pieced it together in my mind that even with them both being on sale, the "worse" one would still be cheaper.

I know this is an answered thread, so I apologize if this goes against ToS for the forums (continuing on in conversation post mortem, ha) but does anyone know how this card pares up to a gtx 960? That's what I currently have, and need to return it so this will be its potential replacement. I know sites like gpuboss etc but it just doesn't seem quite reliable considering that sometimes it will say card a is better than card b, but card b is better than card c, but then truns aorund and says card c is better than a. Sorry if that got confusing, ha

Oh cool, thanks! Does that one come with Dirt Rally? I'd still be willing to sell that to ya, but I don't see it advertised anywhere on the page.
