I'm getting ready to cobble together an system and i've got and i7-4790k, a asus z97 deluxe, 2 r9 270x 4gb and 2 ssds and 3 hdds i want to cram in there.

i can't tell from the spec sheet or the web sites what is actually in the case fan wise. it will not arrive here for about a week. i want to beef up the cooling without going liquid.

would adding a 200mm to the front (losing the 120) and to the top be a good move and what is the 2ex:1in ratio will that be thrown off with larger fans?

A 200mm as the front fan is a good idea. I used to have that arrangement in my HAF 912 along with a top and rear fan. Never had a temp issue ever. I wouldn't put too much stock in the old 'positive/negative pressure' theory with a case that has as much ventilation openings as the HAF 912. Mainly keep intakes filtered. I had to make my own filters in a couple instances.

A good rule of thumb is front/side/bottom: intake and rear/top exhaust. There are always exceptions to the rule, but that is a good start.
