My Vizio 4K TV does not show my BIOS/UEFI upon bootup, using HDMI cable

When my computer boots up (using the graphics card in the subject line), I cannot see anything until I get to the Windows login screen. I cannot see the BIOS, the RAID BIOS, or anything.

I am using an old HDMI cable from a year or two ago, definitely not the latest version. What is my problem ? Is it that I need to use the very latest HDMI cable ? Thank you very much in advance!

Steve

This is the TV: http://www.vizio.com/p702uib3.html

This is the graphics card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspxItem=N82E16814121867

Update: I called Vizio tech support. The problem got narrowed down to 1) my graphics card not supporting 4K resolution (which is true but I don't totally buy that); 2) lack of correct firmware for the TV and 3) the DVI adapter on the HDMI cable, which is not HDMI 1.4.

Update2: I think this post has the answer to my problem http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/328010-30-bios-screen-blank-screen#10497090

Yeah let me know what happens. Just as a heads up though you might not get a great 4k picture without the HDMI to push the signal through. I recommend...

That is pretty strange. It might be loading really fast from your PC and not showing the boot screen? I doubt it is your Graphics card at all. Can you tell me if you have tried using the PC on any other monitor? If the issue is the same then we can narrow down the issue.

The display works fine on a 37 inch Samsung HDTV, and also works fine on a 24 inch Samsung monitor. I have not tried any other brands.

Ok so if this is a 4k TV you will need a 4k ready HDMI cable. If you are using one from last year it most likely is a issue with what the HDMI can display. I know my dad had to buy an 4K HDMI cable for his TV.

Are you planning to watch movies or game on this TV? Movies will go great off of it but gaming with a 280 is barely gonna run games at low settings.

Movies only. Actually I think what *might* be going on, is perhaps the TV is trying to boot off my wireless internet connection first ? I dunno. I'm going to disable that, since it's a luxury. I'll report back.

Good Cable and gives a good display. Cheaper than you would get a best buy were a 6ft cable is like $120

OK, I disabled the internet part of my TV. Same problem with the boot up. It's all black until the login screen. I see the words "NO SIGNAL" in faint white against the black background, while I see my USB keyboard and mouse both blink as the computer boots up. My working theory is, the TV is not getting a strong enough signal to display the text. Once it gets to the Windows login screen, everything is perfect. Very weird.

I have 2 HDMI 1.4 cables coming from the company that sold me the TV. They shipped them separately (annoying). Once they get here, I will try a brand new HDMI 1.4 cable and see if that cures the problem.

I will report back.

ETA: I have written to Vizio and hopefully they will have a solution and/or update their firmware.
