Just a simple inquiry; my parents have been using standard Dell PC's and Laptops since I can remember. I'm planning a build for my parents using just basic parts not meant for gaming just meant for simple 1080p display of movies; TV, video streaming and basic internet browsing so I know I don't need anything major, I was just planning something that will last them a couple of years and if they decide to pick up some kind of gaming here and there. These are the parts I have selected I was just wondering if you think I should swap anything out or add anything else. Thanks, Akka

To USAFRet the budget was pretty much anything under $500 CAD (I'm in Canada and the PC parts aren't .. Well.. Cheap, where I am. Basically no local stores that don't charge $50-$100 more than online prices, so this fell into the $427 range. And @13thmonkey I've thought about it but my PC building skills are rather limited x3

For that price and use, go the easy route. Buy a box from whatever local bigbox store is there. There will be zero performance difference, and you don't have to be the main support guy.
Sometimes, building it yourself is not the answer.

@13thmonkey I don't mean to dig up the grave but I've been continuing to do my research. I've also talked to my parents for a bit about this; I think NUC's are cool, I like the idea a lot. I was sorta hoping I could build something that'll last :p My dad was telling me that he'd like to play games, like racing and flight simulators... So I was trying to do research on that little processor that I'm hooked on for some reason the G3258, and then pairing it with a Radeon R7 260X or GTX 960 and having a decent amount of ram... Do you think that, that would be worth it?

Perfect c: I think I may have everything I need; would you like me to post an updated parts list to see what I should swap or keep and go from there? (I may not include the graphics card right away, main reason being where I live in Canada a lot of tech is expensive, but it will be added shortly)

They wanted to start actually somewhere down the road! I only imagine Golf and Flight Simulators but my dad may include some sort of shooting game down the road. @13thmonkey I was going to go with the GTX 960 down the road, in a month or so to keep up with the $600 budget because the parts to be shipped here with my 15% tax comes to $550.
