Hello,

I want to build a new PC but my budget can only now afford i7-4790 only without and external GPU (IF Intel is chosen) or Fx-6300 with R7-260x (if AMD is chosen)
PC would be mostly doing FEA, CAD and CAE Analysis/Calculations rendering and some gaming ;)
Please advise me on which is the better choice or thankfully suggest an alternative.

Note: From my point of view
Intel Pros:

  • Builtin GPU,
    Can upgrade GPU later,
    Faster than Fx-6300,
Intel Cons:

  • Integrated Intel HD 4600 is so weak,
Installing an External GPU would increase the total cost dramatically
AMD Pros: Dedicated CPU and GPU,
AMD Cons: Upgrade is limited (best FX is weaker that the highest Intel),

Solution
FX 6300 + 260x of course. I'm trying to understand what you're asking for. Intel beats AMD, but it is of course the more expensive solution to your problem. Intel's integrated GPU is next to useless, dedicated (external) GPU is what you want, to speed up the rendering process.

How about:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: Intel Xeon E3-1231 V3 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor ($241.95 @ SuperBiiz)
Motherboard: ASRock H97M PRO4 Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($71.98 @ Newegg)
Video Card: Sapphire Radeon R7 260X 2GB Video Card ($93.98 @ Newegg)
Total: $407.91
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

Doing it this way will require a dedicated (external) GPU because the Xeon CPU don't have one. Which means you will boot into a black screen. Now assuming that is your budget (because motherboard is required). This will get you the most for your budget:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: AMD FX-8320 3.5GHz 8-Core Processor ($135.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Motherboard: Asus M5A97 LE R2.0 ATX AM3+ Motherboard ($63.99 @ NCIX US)
Video Card: Gigabyte Radeon R9 280X 3GB Video Card ($201.98 @ Newegg)
Total: $401.96

Now I don't know what your budget is I'm just assuming. I also don't know what other components you have selected to go in to your new build. Provide us with a list and we'll be able to help you out rather than guessing, like I am right now. :p

Solution
Don't get the fx6300 for doing FEA, CAD and CAE Analysis/Calculations rendering, because the cpu is in the important role for those. And you may consider the intel Xeon E3 1230 or 1231 V3, but I don't know where you are, for example the E3 is much cheaper than the i7.

Thank you all for your help,

I live in Egypt intel Xeon E3 1230 is not available here :( , My budget for the CPU & GPU together (if an external GPU is selected) is about 300$ here we have the following prices :
AMD fx-6300 :118$
R7 260x: 144$
Intel i7-4790: 300$
so I'm looking for the best budget CPU and GPU or an APU limited to 300$ in total.

Another Question Please: If I go for AMD which Motherboard to select: Asus M5A97 LE R2.0 OR GA-970A-D3P (note we don't have the GA-970A-UD3P available :( )
