This problem has been ongoing for 2 years through changes to my computer, none of which seemed to have sorted the issue. When my computer goes to sleep it always wakes to a black screen on monitor the only way to get around this is either unplugging the dvi-d and replugging it or restarting the system. I have tried my computer with 2 monitors and the issue is still there. I have also installed all the latest drivers and over the last 2 years 2 re installations of windows 7.

My current build is as follows
Cpu: i7 2600k @ 3.4ghz
Gpu: MSI 970 4gb
Motherboard: ASRock Z77 Extreme4
Ram: G.Skill X F3 8GB 2x4
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 1 tb
SSD (Boot) : Samsung 850 evo 250GB
PSU: Corsair CXM 750W

I assume the issue is a bios setting however i have tried solutions from other similar posts none of which have helped.

Thanks in advance for any help you may have all suggestions will be appropriated.

Solution
Am going to guess the GPU is not waking up "soon" enough and the OS thinks you got no video. Try another GPU. If the GPU got a dedicated power connector, use it, even though you don't think is necessary. Try GPU on another PCI slot. Sometimes Interrupts are shared, try to put the GPU on a PCI slot with its own interrupt and high priority. I would also try another PSU.

Like I said, just a (mildly educated) guess.
