Sound is messed up

I have the msi-gaming 3 mother board. The sound in this just started messing up today afterschool when i logged on. The audio is messed up, when i watch a you tube video the voices in it is almost unhearable/quiet and the regular backround noise is also messed up, extremly loud and somewhat crackly. my operating system is Windoes 8.1 32 bit

Is this played thru a headset or speakers?
Make sure that the plugs are seated firmly in their correct jacks.
If you have a spare headset, try it to confirm whether it's to do
with the computer or the speakers/headset.
If it's to do with the computer, try uninstalling then reinstalling
your drivers for the soundcard.
