Every time my card crashes I get an error at the bottom that sais display driver has stopped responding and has recovered. I have a i7 4790k Processor, a z97 motherboard with a 850w power supply, and the card listed above. It crashes on certain games like league of legends and occasionaly on youtoube. Ive been searching for a fix for months taking it to repair shops and im fed up with it at this point. It's a new card. Matter a fact everything is new I bought it from scratch. The latest drivers never work so ive reverted to farther back ones just because it crashes less frequent. What could my issue be? Please help guys!

Wow, it's been close to year and it didn't come with a warranty. You might still have options. I've read that some people resolved their problem by UNDERCLOCKING their cards a tiny bit. The thing with AMD cards is... they are basically an overclocked version of a previous card... and then the OEM's who sell them have a tendency to overclock them even more so they could slap on even higher prices... or so I've read.

If...

No I doubt anything is conflicting. I've had experts install all sorts of drivers including beta ones and none have worked. My fps in games stink too. I use to get 150+ in some games and now it stays at 30 or less. I don't know what could have happened but I updated my drivers one time and everything just messed up and started getting crashes. Reinstalled windows 8.1 all over tried newest drivers and still the same thing.

It was there from day one but I installed some drivers one day and it went away for a good 3 months with amazing fps in games and no crashing. then I decided to update the drivers and it screwed everything up again and I couldnt revert back to old drivers and didn't even know which they were. I'm already using some 2014 drivers but they aren't any good since I keep crashing. I'm using Gpu tweak and my voltage is like nonexistant. It's like my pc isnt using voltage and that could be a cause of crashes no?

Which PSU do you have?
The GPU not getting enough voltage is defo a problem.
I mean if i was you i would RMA because this should not be happening in the first place.
if you have a decent working 850w PSU that should provide more than enough power for your system.
BTW have you tested the PSU?

EDIT: Also try installing the drivers that came with the card on the disk if you have not already done that..

I don't know how to increase the voltage it gets though. I dont know where to do that. 850w should be more than enough and it is a new PSU as well so no defects. And as for the disk that came with the graphics card, I cant seem to find it. What is RMA?

i believe you can increase the voltage on MSI afterburner.
download it and go in the options to enable unofficial settings.
as for RMA proving your card is still under warranty you can return it and get a new one.
just tell them its faulty.

I bought the card brand new on Ebay but it came with no warranty from them or the manufacturer since it got sold by a third party. I am downloading afterburner as we speak and maybe I can increase the voltage slightly. Its annoying you pay so much for a great card and cant use it to its full potential.

How long ago did you buy the card? You are aware of the bad VRAM many of the R9 cards had, right? One of the signs most people had were the lines on the screen and system crashes/restarts happening like a day or two after inserting the cards. I experienced that with my 280X after a couple of days. I thought it might have been bad driver install so I decided to wipe my entire system by reformatting and reinstalling a fresh copy of Windows... but I had the lines appear during the install of Windows... so I knew right away my problem had nothing to do with the drivers. Since I had just bought the card... and since Gigabyte took about a week to respond to my ticket, only to tell me to change the cable.. I RMA'd it back to Newegg and received a replacement card that hasn't given me any problems.

Sorry i'm really new to the terms, but what is VRAM? I wasn't aware alot of them had issues until I started seeing my same issue on alot of the forums. Seems like these cards gave alot of grief to people. I bought the card almost a year ago. How can I find out if my card has the issue you are talking about?

If the problems occur after you boot up on Windows and during gameplay, open up CCC on AMD software and go to the OVERDRIVE section... then lower the frequencies a tiny bit to help stabilize the card. That's the only solution I've been able to find that might help with your particular problem.

Is there another card out there that has less problems or stability issues than this one and is more reliable but is still a beast? Like the gtx 970? I'm just so fed up with these issues. I'm not always sure how to go about fixing these things so I just try to read forums and articles.

I feel your pain brother. I am in the exact same boat. My card has been nothing but headaches since I bought it. I thought I did my research and everything but boy was I wrong. Maybe there's a reason most people have NVIDIA cards. I have returned the Radeon R9 290x (RMA) twice already. I just received a replacement and there are STILL issues. Games crashing, black screens, BSOD (blue screen of death). I tell you it's the worst $350 I have ever spent. Not to mention all the money I put into other hardware trying to isolate the problem. Let me know if you find anything that works or you get an NVIDIA card. I'm just about ready to eat the loss on the card (I'll use the parts that I replaced to eventually build my kids a gaming PC of their own)... but still, $350 for the card, $70 in shipping to return the card twice... just a friggin' nightmare all around. Horrible, horrible product.

Well after a year of crashing games blue screens and headaches I went out and bought the GeForce gtx 970 from EVGA and it's amazing, easy install and not a problem since. I love it and I play all games with ultra settings easy. Frame rate stays stable and doesn't drop. This is my suggestion to you man. Let the Radeon go.
