Ok because its not lighting up? idk if its because i need to put in the other motherbaord 6pin but the tester has no space for it?

also

Have I got to have the MOTHERBOARd power connector, connected to the power supply in order for it to worK?

because so far i have plug----powercable--->into the power supply (power supply has no cables in) > tester has 24pin motherboard connector (because it took it out of the motherboard) and that's it?

SORRY I dont quite understand your wording um..

do i need the PSU motherboard power connector inside the power supply while the motherboard 24pin connector is inside the tester?

Is your PSU a modular design, meaning all the cables for motherboards, PCI-E, SATA, ect. are detachable from the PSU itself? If it is, what I mean is attach only the 24-pin motherboard connector to the PSU, leaving the rest unplugged, and attach the other end of the cable to the tester instead of your motherboard. Do you have a link to the tester your using? If your PSU is NOT modular, I would disconnect all the cables from your motherboard, videocard, SATA drives, fans, ect, then again attach only the 24-pin connector to the tester. If your tester can test other cables as well, you can test those individually, though you may still need the 24-pin plugged in regardless. Again, not sure without knowing what your tester is.

oh ok i think its quite an old one but its grey and has LED lights.

but do the other 6pin motherboard plug wont fit into the tester? is that okay? will it still wrok

and also okay Ill make sure that I put in the PSU power cable into the power supply

Do you have a picture of what your trying to do by chance? Also, do you know the model # of the tester your using? The 6 pin shouldn't be required, at least on testers I've seen. The 24-pin is the only one that would be required, whereas the others I'm guessing should be optional to make sure their power output is correct.
