Hi,

I have a Dell Inspirion 580s. It has an integrated graphics card. I know to upgrade I would have to have a better power supply. I also know it would need a new case. I read ATX works for dell inspirion. The type of card I would like is some kind of Nvidia GTX because I got the Nvidia Shield and would like to stream to it.

So my question is if I get a new case and a new power supply will I be able to use an EVGA GeForce GTX 750 Ti FTW DVI-I/HDMI/Display Port GDDR5 Graphics Card with ACX Cooling 02G-P4-3757-KR in my new system or is the motherboard not shaped to handle this graphics card at all?

Thanks in advanced for any help you may be able to render.

I wouldn't really recommend doing it but yes, buying a new case and power supply will let you support it.

But there's 750ti that will fit in your case, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125680

It has an included half height bracket that will make it compatible with your current computer case, but first i need to make sure your power supply has enough power to run it.

I need you to open up the side panel of your case and check the sticker (Which should look similar to this) on the power supply, and tell mo how many Amps it has on the +12V rail?

What you right now have is a TFX0250D5W 250W Bestec Power supply For Dell SFF Small Form Factor PSU Slim Inspiron 530s.

It can deliver only 18Amps on its +12V rail.

The GTX 750 Ti need a quality 400W PSU that can deliver 20Amps on its +12V rail. Your current PSU is 2Amps short. So please upgrade the PSU and get the card.

Cheers!

Nvidia recommends a 300 watt psu for the 750 ti. I installed a 750 ti onto an hp slimline (220 watt psu) I had sitting around. Since then, it has been regularly used for gaming without any hiccups for over a year. The fact of the matter is, the 750 ti uses an extremely low amount of power (60 watt tdp) so almost any psu that supplies more 200 watts can power it.

If your PC runs nothing more than the regular I3+HDD+Dsick Drive you should be completely fine, the 20A requirement set by nvidia is actually based on how much power a system with a 130W TDP i7 will need to run the card, as the i3 is has a TDP of 60W you should be completely fine.
