I have use the Microsoft 'Create installation media for Windows 8.1' tool to create and iso of the version of Windows 8 that came pre-installed on my laptop.
I know the product key is stored in the Bios. (The only place that I have it)
I can't seem to access the command prompt from my Bios to retrieve this.
Backstory: My old HDD burnt out and is completely unusable, so I have fitted a new one, and now trying to put Windows back on to the laptop.
Will the installation detect the product key?
If not, is there a way to retrieve the product key, keeping in mind, the HDD is currently blank, so can't run any of the many windows based tools to do so.
Thanks.
