I am going to build my first ever gaming PC, and I need it to have wireless networking compatibilities. I right now am looking at this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JNA337K/ref=ox_sc_act_title_6?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER. Being $70, it seems way to overkill. My internet speed on speedtest.net get's around 40mbps. What Wireless pcie card do I need, and in what price range?

Pretty much you need to match your router. Does little good to buy 802.11ac if your router does not support it.

The most common device would be a dual band device that is called "600" this means it can run 300m on 2.4g or 300m on 5g.

Even if your router is not dual band you save very little buying a single band nic card.

When you start looking at faster device they get much more expensive but do not actual increase in speed that much. You get much less going from 300 to 450 than you do going from 150 to 300.

Now all these numbers represent some special lab test conditions that you never see in the real world. You will not even get 100m with the best devices on 2.4g. You should though be able to get close to ISP speed but...

Just be sure not to buy a expensive nic and then have to upgrade your router to be able to use the features.
