Hey forum today I realized that I had an older version of Physx installed rather than the latest version. I tried installing the new version and got an error message saying

"NVIDIA PHYSX, There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A script required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or a package vendor. "

It also gives me the same message when I try to uninstall the version I have installed now from programs and features. I truned my anti virus off, and disabled UAC and everything I could think of that could conflit with the installation and it wouldn't work. Does anyone know how I can fix this? It just gives me erros when I try to do anything involving physx installing or uninstalltion. I tried clicking the "repair" option when re downloading the driver I already have installed, and it wouldn't work. Same error message, also and error message when I click on the "modify" option.

Solution
Well, physx is going to give you frame drops because it is pretty gpu intensive. But if it's actually giving you the physx effects(Eg. in Borderlands 2, turning on physx gives you pools of blood and other liquids on the ground and whatnot), then you aren't having a problem with physx.

I've never gone about uninstalling my physx drivers, so I dont know how to do that. But I know if you try to download one of the drivers and still have your current one installed, it won't let you. So maybe try this...
Uninstall your regular gpu driver and install 347.88
Then, go to nvidia geforce experience and update the driver through that. In that process it will let you choose to update the physx stuff and it should do the uninstall and install for you

1.) yes all are installed even optional one
2.) The latest one which is the GTA 5 driver released in April
3.) I notice when games I play the have physx get frame hitches if I turn physx on
4.) Yes I just tried downloading an older version and it told me it aborted installation because I have a newer version, I also downloaded the version I have now which is 9.12.1031 and i'm trying to download the latest one which is 9.14 and it just gives me the same error when I try to uninstall it, or just install the new version.

Should I uninstall all the drivers I see in "uninstall programs" for Nvidia? I have PhysX (But it won't let me uninstall from there) Vision controller driver, graphics driver, GeForce experience and hd audio driver

And you say download 347.88? Should I re download that or the newest one which is 350.12? I have a 980.

I fixed it by downloading uninstalling the drivers I have and redownloading them with the custom install option
