New motherboard. New CPU. New problems.

I'm using:
Asus H97m-e motherboard
8 gigs of ram(g-skill ripjaws i think?)
GTX 760
Intel i7-4790k
Thermaltake 3.0 Pro cooler

After some wire gymnastics in my system, I have everything assembled. However, when I boot up the system, it tells me about an Over voltage error, and suggests I go to the bios. I do that and update it as well since it's a new motherboard. After some snooping around, I possibly found the culprit. The CPU Input voltage is at a seemingly high 3.6v with the number displayed in red. My question is, how do I adjust this? I'm thinking that's what's causing my voltage errors, but something's telling me there's more to this.

EDIT: Also, the reason I put it here in the overclock forums is because i'm going to eventually ask for advice on how I should overclock this system given that it greeted me with voltage issues and whatnot. I'm planning on using this for gaming.

Solution
Well, short of another PSU, PSU tester, you might be able to use a voltmeter attached to right wires. Otherwise, you may have to ignore to get readings in windows.
It's going to be a false reading. 3.6v would be instant death for a CPU. I believe the stock Input voltage should be about 1.8V for your CPU. Also, what PSU are you using? It could be getting the odd reading from an out of spec voltage causing the warning.

I'm still getting an error. XFX 550W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply is my power supply. I had it checked out the other day at a repair shop, and it appeared fine.

I'm guessing you already disconnected and reconnected the main power cables to verify it wasn't some loose connection. If you could borrow another PSU just to try, I would go that route. Have you installing your OS on it yet, or are you not using it until you've figured this out? If you already have it running, I would try other software to see what reading they provide for your voltages. The free trial of HWMonitor Pro is pretty specific on voltages and logging files of them to see what happens on load changes, ect.

Well, to be hoenst, this isn't an *entirely* new system. I had an OS with windows 7 up and running before with an old motherboard and processor. Things happened, and I needed to change it up. So right now, I still have my OS on my SSD, but I can't get into windows due to this voltage error nonsense. Borrowing another PSU is currently out of the question unfortunately.

Yes, I can't even get to a "so and so OS is loading" screen or anything. It's the very first thing I see upon startup.

There's an option to ignore it from being monitored, but i'm not sure if it's a good idea given its current readings.

Turns out ignoring the readings was indeed the cause. When I ignored it, I booted up windows(it came on as normal), and ran CPU-Z. The voltage remained consistently at decent levels(0.9-1.1v) even when stress tested. I guess it's just my BIOS' reading being busted.
