First time trying to set up a RAID array - have two extra HDDs to put in my system (2 1TB WD Blues), to accompany a 250gb SSD and a 2TB WD Black. I've been looking at this guide - http://rog.asus.com/77402012/rampage-motherboards/what-is-raid-setup-guide/3/

But, from Intel -
----------------
Detailed Description
IMPORTANT:
Before installing this application or requesting technical support from Intel, first contact your system manufacturer. They typically provide software which is specifically configured for your system.

Purpose:
Installs the Intel® Rapid Storage Technology (Intel® RST) RAID driver version 13.6.0.1002.

This driver supports RAID 0, 1, 5 and 10. The driver should be installed after the operating system has been installed. F6 and RAID BIOS configurations need to be performed prior to installation of this driver for proper operation.
------------------

Intel says to not install the RST driver until after F6 and RAID Bios config., and the tutorial says to install to external media (i.e. USB) - do I just do what the tutorial says and then afterwards install the RST driver?

Mobo website? Asus provides "smart connect" - I assume you meant download from Intel?

And just to confirm - download, install (but don't run), set up raid, then run RST?

Stupid me, only looked at the first option (smart connect). And the one on the Asus page is dated - the Intel version is a few months more recent. I'm assuming their the same thing, the only change that I can see is that the one on the Asus page has "Intel AHCI/RAID Driver Path for Windows Win7 32bit & Win7 64bit & Win8 32bit & Win8 64bit & Win8.1 32bit & Win8.1 64bit" - not to drag this on forever, but does this matter?

Hmm, Asus tutorial says - Download Intel’s Latest Rapid Storage Technology Drivers and save the install package to external media such as a USB flash storage device. The RST version you use will make a difference to your overall performance. I like to have the latest chipset drivers on hand too.

If I haven't already bored and annoyed you to death, could you possibly just give me instructions on setting up the raid? I've given up with the Asus one simply because of this driver thing. Is the driver even needed or can I set up the raid without the driver?

Hmm, I got a Secure Boot Violation due to "Unauthorized Changes" - had to manually force boot from the BIOS, which then caused a blue screen saying the PC had problems and needed to restart?

Now its doing a "Automatic Repair".....

I can get in with Safe Mode, but have no idea what to do to fix except maybe disabling the raid and going back to AHCI?
