Hello people of Toms Hardware I am upgrading my PC (More like moving it to a new case and adding a new motherboard for future upgrades) and when I turned on the PC the power supply started making a Continuous Short Beeping (Continuous meaning never ending and never changing) I was going to upgrade my power supply anyway but I did some research and found that this means the power supply is failing I have not completely moved the power supply into the case yet it is still in another case and I just connected the power wires to check if the parts are working and started to get this beeping and power supply would make sense because it's the stock power supply that came with the Hp computer. I wanted to know if this power supply will fit in the case and fix my problem with issues I just want it to plug in and work.

Everything else: Everything else (Hard Drive, Optical Drive, Power Supply That Isnt Working) is pretty much just an Hp computer I don't remember which one though I think it's something close to this but not exactly: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/hp-desktop-amd-a8-series-8gb-memory-1tb-hard-drive/8074026.p?id=1219309055457&skuId=8074026

I am getting the 500W because I am getting a GTX 960 and want the head room in case I have to upgrade in the future

Solution
Check your current PSU per Step 23 as above. Post your voltage readings. I didn't say get another power supply. Yet anyway.

Check the rest of your build per that checklist eg make sure you have put your motherboard standoff in.

(I don't think I did a proper job explaining above or I had errors)
The 24 Pin and 4 PIn are connected to the motherboard when turned on all the fans turn on but the screen remains black and I am treated to a continuous (NON ENDING) short beeps from the mother board speaker what I mean is the short beeps are in a chain once one is over another one plays it never ends. I think this is because of an inadequate power supply. This is the power supply I am going to buy once I know for sure the PSU is the problem http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00H33SFJU/?tag=xov-20 I would also like to say that I don't have another power supply sitting around to test if the PSU is a problem so this is out of the question

Okay I'm going to test all the steps I can when I go over to my friends house (This is his PC) I'm one hundred percent sure I installed the motherboard standoffs because we don't have any left I screwed them in until I could not screw them in anymore and I put the motherboard on the screws and securely tightened them I don't know anybody that has a digital multimeter and as I said my friend is on the cheap of the cheap buying a $40 power supply is going to hurt him big time
