I was thinking about doing a gaming build with an amd fx8320. I was just wondering if i was losing any performance going with an amd fx 8320 over something like an intel i5. Ive heard for gaming the fx cpus do pretty good for the money. Please do not turn this into a massive intel vs amd fanboy war. I plan on playing games that can get cpu intensive like bf4.

For most games, an FX-8320 will be fine, most games are weighted towards the graphics card anyway. But if you plan on playing CPU intensive games like BF4, Total War, MMO's, or online shooters, you would need to get an i5 to not experience fps drops.

For the budget minded buyer go AMD for sure if you just wanna drop more on your gpu or whatever. If you have the extra money to spend get intel and an awesome gpu. Honestly if you could go straight for the i7 4790k that would last you a good bit.
