Hello I have Amd fx 8350 with asus chrosshair v formula-z, nvidia gtx 970,samsung ssd 850 evo and hyper-x ddr 3 1866 savage

I was thinking to buy an I7-4790k with asus maximus VII hero and use my existing gpu ram and ssd

Is it worth buying ? Keep in mind im only gaming.

The 8350 DOES neck a 970 in certain situations, I had that setup. Went to an i5 4690k and there is a very noticeable difference. Note that I play MMO's so CPU is more important. Is it worth the money? No not really....especially not for an i7..

Well, it really depends on your preference. The performance between these CPU's is very close, so I would generally recommend going with an 8350 instead because it has the same gaming performance, is less expensive, and has much better multi tasking capabilities.

Which one is a waste of money? I7? How come I don't see my ssd and my 970 working so great. I'm oced 4.8

Complete waste of money. Youve read too many horror stories. Its just a processor, the only difference is that one is faster than the other. But not noticeable in a gaming environment. If your voltage is too low it can say its at 4.8, but perform a lot worse. If your SSD is noticeably slow, then its not setup properly, too much data on it, or its failing. And a FX 8350 will allow a 970 to run at 100% so its not bottle necking. Dont let anyone tell you otherwise.
