Just wondering if the MSI GTX 970 Twin Frozr V in 2-way SLI will bottleneck an i7 4790K? Building a new PC, so I would like to know. Thanks for the help

Well I think you mean to reverse the parts in the way you wrote the question. In 3d gaming the CPU would "bottleneck" GTX 970 SLI . The Data is being processed by the CPU then the CPU issues commands to the GPU. But to make a long winded conversation short, no your i7 4790k is fine for any GPU in SLI at this time.

Note: there is exceptions , Frostebite 2.0,3.0 game engine is said to utilize 6 cores.

which is why anyone buying the AMD FX 8-core cpus now will be good until 6/8 core Intel cpus become mainstream?

Shit. I'm kinda screwed then. Although I still believe that Ubisoft is being dickheads to PC users, I still want to run AC Unity and Syndicate and I know that syndicate is going to be poorly optimized for PC just like Unity.

What are the side effects of a bottleneck? How badly with my cards bottleneck the CPU?

No, there already are games that use all cores. The FX 8 cores are obsolete now.

All he would need to do is overclock the i7.

Ok. I think i missed the point in both responses. I might be tired. I do not have a reply to both posts here.

The CPU you have is one of the best on the market, Obviously it won't be a bottleneck. If you had AMD, I might worry a bit but that's one of the best in the lineup. Even if you wanted to move up, there'd be nowhere to move up to.
