Hello!

I recently bought a computer in pieces for my little brother and we immediately got in to trouble.
The computer could without any warning or BSOD either freeze completely or reboot. After much trouble shooting we found out it was the ASUS RADEON R7 260X OC 2GB graphics card that was the problem. The freezes could happend anything from three times a day to once every two days. When trying the R7 260X in another computer we got the same problem.

The new computer was running with a borrowed Nvidia card for over three weeks without any single problem. I spoke to the reseller and got them to change the card (even though they didnt find any problems at all when doing tests) and we got a new identical card. The problems then started directly and I'm now really unsure of why this is happening.

Is it some kind of compability problem? It seems more people have had problems with the ASUS RADEON R7 260X OC 2GB without solving it.

Setup:
Gigabyte GA-F2A88XM-DS2 mATX
SSD 120GB OCZ Arc 100
AMD Athlon II X4 860K 95W, FM2+
Crucial 8GB (2x4GB) CL9 1600Mhz Ballistix Sport
ASUS R7260X-OC-2GD5
Fractal Design Tesla R2 500W 80+ Gold

I would MORE than appreciate if anyone could solve this for us.

ASUS just posted an updated BIOS on their support site for the ASUS 260X 2GB OC. BIOS date is 2014/06/25. The changelog mentions this very issue (black screen) is fixed, and just flash it and check...
