I have a Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H that a friend gave me. I installed it yesterday but now, no matter what, the sound doesnt work. I even used an old SoundBlaster Audigy2, but it still didnt work. But, when I turn up my speakers I can hear the sound barely.

Solution
Remove the case HD Audio connector from the motherboard, it might be telling (wrongly) that you have something plugged in the front audio jack, or might short-circuitting the sound output. Plug the loudspeakers or phones in the motherboard backplate connector. Also check if you're using the HD Audio connector and not the "AC97" one.

If this doesn't work, check the speaker configuration in the drivers, be sure it matches your current configuration (usually "stereo" or "2 channel").
