I'm redoing our home server, and picked up this motherboard, along with an i3 and a Samsung 120GB M.2 SSD. In addition, I have 4 HDD's and a BluRay drive.

The issue I'm encountering is that two of the SATA ports on the motherboard will not detect ANYTHING connected to them. I've tried various devices on each port (HDD's, BluRay drive, etc), and nothing will be detected.

I believe if you utilize the mSata connector, it disables one of the Sata ports. I presume the same hold true with M.2?

Does anyone know if there is a setting or configuration I can change in the BIOS to enable at least one of the two "dead" Sata ports?

Thanks in advance for any help/ insight!

Here is a link to the user manual: ftp://66.226.78.21/manual/Z97%20Pro4.pdf

Looking a page 6 (chapter 1.3), it looks like SATA3_4 & SATA3_5 are the ports that are not detecting anything.

Looking at page 19, the note to the right of the illustration says:
"Please connect either SATA or PCIe storage devices to this connector. he SATA Express connector is shared with the SATA3_4, SATA3_5 and the M.2_SSD (NGFF) Socket 3. *he SATA Express interface is a combination of SATAE_1, SATA3_4, and SATA3_5."

Looking at page 27 (chapter 2.8), it says:
"Please be noted that the M.2_SSD (NGFF) Socket 3 is shared with the SATA Express connector; you can only choose either the M.2_SSD (NGFF) Socket 3 or the SATA Express connector to use."

Because I am using the M.2 connector, that means I am unable to use EITHER of those to SATA3 ports?
