Got a AMD FX8350 black edition CPU.

Want to know what kind of memory chips you guys suggest for this combo. Thinking of upgrading from 8gb to 16gb. Mostly play games, but use two monitors and do alot of multi-tasking so I feel like I'm running short sometimes.

Maybe I should upgrade the MB and save up for a set with DDR4? Don't really know the benefits vs DDR3.

Solution
Well there ya go then, decision is made!
Now to just sort through the million kinds of ram.......
CL9 1866 ( the fastest the 8350 and chipset support, possible to OC but not worth the tiny gains imo) , and you are good to go.
Ram is expensive right now, I would keep an eye out for sales. Make sure the heat spreader fits under your cpu cooler.

DDR4 costs a fortune right now, so that's a thing.
AMD chipsets do not support ddr4, but will on next years new socket/chip.
I use Mushkin Redline CL9 1.5 v ram, 16 GB of it @ 1866.

Most of Tom's tests with the new DDR4 Intel chips show it to be faster , but it's very hard to compare apples to oranges, since you can't stuff ddr3 in to a ddr4 chipset.

For me, the massive cost of going to a ddr4 cpu/chipset, buying the ram etc, is not even close to worth it.

Your mileage may vary.

Personally, I am happy wioth my set up, and will wait until ddr4 is more widely adopted, hopefully this will result in a significant price drop, and we will have a lot more benchmarks for comparison shopping.

If you want to add 8 GB more ram, add 2 more of the same ram you have now. Mixing ram is usually not a good idea.

Then I won't be going for DDR4 yet. But looking forward to the time when it's standard issue.

I wouldn't mix the ram. The plan was to go for a new 16gb kit(thinking 2x8), besides the ram I have installed is so ugly I can't stand it. Been putting effort to making the inside look cool and those chips really don't fit in there.
