Hi,

http://i.imgur.com/7kaFeCf.png

So I am having problems with my CPU temp it is going above 80C while gaming. I have the i5 2500k with stock cooler right now but I might getting the Noctua NH-L12... Will this bring my temp to lower 70. Also I am wondering why I am having lag in some games like Dying Light, Battlefield 4... My setup:

ASRock B75 pro3-M
i5 2500k (stock) going to to Noctua NH-L12
Kingston ValueRam 4GB 1333mhz
MSI GTX970
1TB (For games)
500GB HDD ( other stuff like music)
90GB ( OS and programs)
Corsair HX650

When lowering graphics to LOW in dying light the game works fine.

I am planning to upgrade my CPU cooler to the Noctua NH-L12 and also replacing my RAM with 8GB HyperX fury 1600mhz.

Will these two components have any effect on my lag... One year ago I had the MSI 760 and never had any problem with battlefield 4 (only this game) but after I upgraded to MSI 970 I am having lag. I am happy with my i5 2500k and MOBO and don't wanna replace with the new 1150 if it is not necessary.

It shouldn't be getting that high unless your ambient air temp is scorching. Assuming it isn't then maybe you need to reseat the cpu cooler. I have the same chip as you, overclocked with a hyper 412 (cheap but good) cooler. When I game it only reaches max 60. Does your case have good airflow?

What do you mean with turning my power settings up? Btw the image I showed is my temp when I just started up my computer.

Well.. Getting a new cooler and RAM can't harm anything also I can get it for cheap without tax. But after seeing some threads I also think the problem is with my CPU cooler. Since I had my CPU +cooler I never replaced my thermal paste. I hope the new cooler and RAM will do it. I can not think about anything else that can give me the lag I am having.

I have run into problems with the thermal paste on stock coolers. You might just want to try replacing this before you bother upgrading cpu cooler. My reasoning is, the stock cooler was doing a good enough job up until now and the only thing that might change is the age of the paste.

I would also double check all your graphic settings in Nvidia control panel. Sometimes updating drivers will default things on that hurt graphical performance.

So the 970 only ever handles one screen output? The only reason I mention it is because people with multi screen setups had reported idle temps of around 60 with the 970...could be heating up the whole case. Unlikely if you are single screen though, unless there is something causing the fan to not idle properly.

Well.. Now you mention the problem of heating up the whole case.... few months ago I replaced my older case which was a ATX case ( dont remember the brand) for a smaller uATX case Cooler Master Elite 342. The inside is small and all the components are very close to each other. It had ( removed it) a 120mm case fan in it... You think having a 120mm fan (front) and 92 fan (back) can make a lot of difference?

Just had a look at your case specs - you took out the only fan! Definitely put it back in and consider buying some for the optional rear/side slots. Should be fine with stock cooler then, but you can upgrade it if you want, won't hurt :)

Well I might getting two case fans... Also Noctua because they are quiet and it will match with my Noctua NH-L12. I already ordered Kingston HyperX Fury 8GB and the Noctua NH-L12... So besides these two also getting Noctua NF-A9 and NF-F12. Hope these upgrades will fix all my problems. Finally getting some information that helps me! I never thought the temps in my case would be that high but I just checked it my self after a few hours and there is a lot of heat coming out.

Thanks!!!

Funny thing is I removed it today. But I will definitely buy new once summer is coming and the fan that was in my case was loud.

Well I just installed my Noctua CPU Cooler and already my computer is working better than before... I was playing dying light, battlefield 4 and some other games...(WITHOUT ANY LAG) Well these are the results:

It stays between 50-60 which is nice! I think if I also add some case cooling everything will cooldown better.
