Will a 7200 RPM mobile drive work in a mobile enclosure?

I was looking at this enclosure and wondering if this drive would work or not.

The enclosure has a Y-cable so it can hook up to two USB ports, so I was hoping that would give it enough power to use the faster drives.

If not I can always resort back to the 5400 RPM drives and just deal with it.

Hi there amsgator,

Yes, this drive should work in this enclosure. As long as the drive is 2.5'', it should be powered up only by USB(not even necessarily Y type of one).
I didn't see that the enclosure supports 3.5'' drives.

Cheers,

Unfortunately, no, not every 2.5" drive is the same in its other dimensions. The specific drive you linked has these dimensions: 3.9 x 2.8 x 0.4 inches
But according to a comment on the Amazon link for the case: "9/32" is maximum thickness this case may receive."
People have also complained that the width is tight. Conclusion: find a roomier case for that drive or get a slimmer drive for that case.
