As the esteemed rap philosopher DMX observed "Y'all gon' make me lose my mind up in HERE, up in here!"

Seriously though folks, all I want to know is will an Intellistation ProZ 6221 that has run Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit for lo these many years also support an upgrade to a 64 bit installation of the same OS or won't it? I have Googled this query 'til I can think straight and STILL have found no definitive answer - not even from the oracle at Microsoft!

Can somebody help a brother out and answer my question, PLEASE?!!

Sorry! I am a little brain damaged from fiddling with this stupid computer! It is an IBM Intellistation Z Pro model 6221. Here is a link to its general specs from CNET: http://www.cnet.com/products/ibm-intellistation-z-pro-6221-xeon-3-2-ghz-4-gb-36-4-gb/specs/. It has dual 3.20 GHz Xeon processors and 4 GB of ECC RAM. The HD is a 500 GB Western Digital Blue Caviar. BIOS is build OPE 151C, which is the last BIOS update available from IBM. I'm in the middle of attempting to re-install Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit or I would try and find the name of the GPU I installed a while back. I hope that will be enough information for you to help answer my question!

Regards

Hey there okcnaline,

Well, doggoneit anyway! I was really hoping that I would be able to reload 7 as its 64 bit version, but I guess that's just not to be! Guess I'll have to start a savings fund to buy or build myself a new(er) computer to replace this old workhorse. I am really just trying to find any means possible to speed up the old girl as she seems to take forever to load! Guess doubling the RAM to 8 GB won't help at all, huh? Oh! And you asked about my GPU: It's an ATI Radeon HD 4600 series card. I installed it to improve the graphics performance over whatever was in here before.

Well, guess you've helped me solve this mystery and now I know. It WILL NOT support a 64 bit install! Thanks a bunch okcnaline! I appreciate your taking the time to help me out.
