I am planning on building a PC in the near future I came here to just get some feedback on the build and if I need any changes. I prefer that the parts come from Best Buy, Amazon, or Newegg for convenience. (I really don't care about where has the best price, just keep it under $2000 if possible)

Here's a 980 build with a 144Hz monitor and a PSU that can handle SLI down the road if you want. Although really you can do 1440p with a GTX 980 no problems, depends on how smooth you want your gameplay.

For the monitor what if I went with a 1440p but 60hz. Would I be better off with a 1080p 144hz?

Depends on what you're looking for.

1440p 60Hz is going to be a high quality gaming experience with exceptional graphics

1080p 144Hz is going to be ultra smooth gameplay.

If you do any competitive FPS/MOBA type games I would go with the 144Hz. If you do mostly AAA titles and single-player I would go 1440p.

I'm thinking of screwing my budget and going with a GTX 980 SLI for a 1440p 144Hz can you just varify the other stuff if I'm bottle-necking or anything. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/rp2XBm
