What Graphics Card Should I Choose?

Ok, this may be lengthy. My current PC specs include the following:
AMD Phenom x4 II 955 Black Edition
Gigabyte r7 250 2gb Gddr5
Asustek M4A87TD
Kingston KP382H-HYC
BenQ G2420HD 60 HZ
I have been considering an upgrade for a while now, but I am unsure what to do. I have done some benchmarks to test what gets maxed out first, either my graphics card or CPU. It is always my graphics card, which hits 100% while usually the CPU is only doing 30-60%. Going off that information if have decided that I will upgrade my graphics card. My budget is around 300 aussie dollars. I have been looking around Newegg and PC Case Gear, also on Gumtree for second -hand items. I have come up with heaps of results for my 300$ budget. Here are my options:

HIS R9 290 iPower IceQ X² OC
http://www.newegg.com/global/au/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161459&cm_re=r9_290-_-14-161-459-_-Product

All of the R9 280's that come up on Newegg when you enter R9 280.

HD 7970 ghz edition, there are couple selling on Gumtree for around 200-300$

GTX 960 4gb edition:
http://www.newegg.com/global/au/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814487128&cm_re=gtx_960-_-14-487-128-_-Product

Sapphire R9 280x Vapor-X
www.newegg.com/global/au/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202137&cm_re=r9_280x-_-14-202-137-_-Product

This is kinda what I'm looking at. Now I'm no noob at PC's and their parts, so I have a decent idea on what I'm talking about. At the moment I think I'm leaning towards the 290, which is 312$. But I am worried about my 955 bottlenecking it. I also have been looking at the R9 280x Vapor-X, which doesn't seem bad for its money. Also what are some decently priced Nvidia cards? I would like to play Battlefield 4 at a steady 60fps+ on ultra, and I am a massive fan of the Assassins Creed series, so I would like to be able to play Unity and Black Flag on Ultra at 30-40 fps+. If anyone has any ideas they would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Newegg is selling their XFX R9 280x for 263$. But I can get a second hand gtx 770 for around 200$. All the benchmarks I have read show that a 770 has a slight edge over a 280x. Is this true?

Well, I'm leaning towards the 770, but only if I can get it cheap, I will keep and eye out. Is there any other graphics cards around that price mark with the performance? Or have they all been covered?

Hi Guys,

I've decided to just build a whole new system, and this is what I've chosen, let me know what you think!
CPU: i5 4590
Cooler: CoolerMaster Seidon 120V Plus Liquid CPU Cooler
Mobo: ASRock Z97 Extreme4 Motherboard
PSU: Silverstone Strider Plus 700W
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 2TB ST2000DM001
SSD: Kingston HyperX Fury 120GB SSD
RAM: Kingston HyperX Beast HX324C11T3K2/8 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3
Wireless Card: D-Link DWA-548 Wireless N300 PCIe Desktop Adapter

I've managed to get a second hand gtx 770 off gumtree for 200$. I've tried to make this system as future proof as I can. Also I have chosen the 4590 over the 4690k because I save about 50$. In the future I may get another 700, would this power supply be enough for an sli? Also I've seen mixed review about the SSD, but I don't need anything fancy.

Any input would be appreciated!

Looks O.K. to me. I suggest 2x8gb RAM beacause your system is quite high-spec, it;ll onlu cost you an extra $80 and you'll want more RAM space on your motherboard for any upgrades

Ok, so a better psu would be recommended? I have a few options:

Corsair CX-850 Modular 80+ Bronze Power Supply:
http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=15_535&products_id=30258

Seasonic M12II 850W EVO Edition Bronze Power Supply:
http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=15_535&products_id=31374

What would you guys recommend. Is there anything better than I can get for a cheaper price? Also is the i5 good for screen recording and sharing? I would like to start a youtube channel so I need a good processor for screen recording, but the i5 should be fine shouldn't it? I'm either considering the i5 4590 or the 4690k, not sure yet.
