Unfortunately AMD AM3 M-ATX boards are limited to the 760g chipset which IMO is not ideal for FX chips. The Gigabyte 78lmt-USB3 (new model) is just about good enough for the FX6300 as it actually has VRM heatsinks and should handle a 95w FX. But don't expect overclocking headroom, also you are limited to SATAII.

Ideally you are looking at the FM2 / FM2+ platform if you are going AMD. If you are serious about gaming, which you appear to be looking at an R9 280 then really the only option on that platform IMO is the Athlon 860K. But I would only go down this route if you are on a budget and I would be pairing that with a lower performing GPU.

Realistically, in a small space your biggest concern is cooling. For that reason you are likely better sticking with a Haswell build, i5 or i3 depending on budget. If you are going for an 85/81 chipset then I would not advise getting a K rated chip. Also your GPU choice, the R9 280 is a corker of a card for the money but it produces a lot of heat. Personally in a small case I would be looking at going for the best thermal / performance compromise. If your monitor is 1080p 60hz then the GTX 960 is probably your best option.
