I have the gigabyte 970a-ud3p rev 2.0 mobo and crucial 8 gb 1x64 ddr3 1600 udimm 240-pin ram. the part number for the ram is CT102464BA160B. Whenever I install this ram to the mobo my pc restarts and freezes up is there a fix for this or is just not going to work?

1x64? What is this? Are there multiple sticks? If so, try running with only one stick in. Also try doing a BIOS / CMOS reset to reset your hardware configs. See if this helps.
Crucial part number CT102464BA160B is not shown on list of compatible memory for the GA-970A-UD3P motherboard at Crucial's website. It is likely that this memory is incompatible. This DIMM is 8 GB capacity x 64 bit data width (standard width for non-ECC memory).
