Hi, I was looking for an inexpensive upgrade of my RAM memory, and I've found this: URL. However, I'm not sure if my current configuration supports it, and if it is a good option. Also, since my motherboard has 4 RAM slots, is there a specific position in order for it to work in dual channel? And is it possible to also keep my current 2GB memory?

AMD Phenom II X4 B35
Gigabyte GA-M720-US3
Radeon HD 7850
2GB DDR2 RAM

Solution
Go to the Gigabyte website and look up your motherboard...there will be a list of compatible memory that Gigabyte has certified the board as supporting...anything else is rolling the dice although typically name-brand memory is almost always a safe buy. The website will also tell you which ram slots should be populated first for dual channel performance.

As far as keeping your current 2 gig of memory...sure it will work but you need to be aware that the slowest memory in the system will set the timings for all of the other memory regardless of speed. In other words plugging in 2 sticks of DDR3-2300 along side 2 sticks of DDR3-1600 will get you 4 sticks running at 1600 because they all must run at the same speed.

I searched the Gigabyte website and found an handy pdf containing their official qualified vendors list. Fortunately, the model that I found , M378T5263AZ3-CF7, is supported, but in the dual channel column is a weird "v" and I have no idea what that means. Here is the link. Also, do you know what "Non-ECC Unbuffered" means?
