intell i7-3770k
800w power supply
windows 8.1 64 bit
either two gtx 970 SLI or one 980

I am very particular about my framerates so i am wondering if ill see any frames below 30 in my rig when playing games like the witcher 3 and graphically heavy games in the near future. (I know its extremely hard to predict a game that hasn't come out yet.

So i am asking whether I should get two gtx 970 or one 980 for my purposes and what type of framerates i can expect.

PS. i should say that i am aware of the 970s 3.5 +.5 memory usage. Do yall think that will effect 1440p gaming?

Thank you guys so much in advance!!

Well, I built the rig a while ago and currently have a 770 installed but have become enthralled with 1440p and the witcher. I am leaning toward the SLI 970s but the only thing that concerns me is that bandwidth ceiling. I have heard others report newer games are queued to consume more than the 3584 and that would result in stuttering... yalls opinions are greatly appreciated!

My friend has this setup and maxes out that 3440x1440p monitor on ultra settings in pretty much every game. I must say that the 21:9 1440p monitor is pretty sweet.

I'm not necessarily recommending you get that specific monitor. What I'm getting at is that if that setup can max out that monitor, it should have no problem maxing out a regular 1440p monitor.

For $576, that 295x2 is pretty awesome.
