Why did bit torrent suddenly slow down?

So I was downloading something on bit torrent and the down speed was pretty fast but then it got to 63% and the downspeed went from 1.1mb/s to 0.2kb/s all of a sudden. What caused this sudden change in speed? I'm trying everything but the down speed has slowed down to basically nothing.

It's probably because that torrent has like one SEEDER... that's the person that has the complete torrent.

Example:
Say ONE person is seeding a torrent that is about 800MB. If 99 people join the swarm and begin downloading... that ONE seeder is alone until there are other people with the completed file. So those 99 people could be at 63% when YOU join the swarm and begin downloading... so you will get a super fast download until you received 63% of the file.. then you will slow down and proceed with the rest of the people at the same pace.

Another explanation is... there are not seeders with the completed file. If one person only has 63% of the total file... and 100 people join in... then everyone will catch up to that person with 63% and the downloading will stop since no one else would have the rest of the file... and anyone new who joins the swarm will get up to the same point and stop.

You need to look at your torrent client to see if anyone has 100 percent of the file (SEEDERS). If it's 0 then you won't get the rest until someone with the rest of the file logs on and starts seeding.

Depends... the only way is to look to OPEN YOUR BIT TORRENT CLIENT and seeing if the torrent has any SEEDERS. If it says 0 (zero) then the torrent might not ever finish... if it says 1 (one) then it's probably a new torrent and will take a few hours to seed.

There are times when torrents never finish up or it may take days or weeks for a seeder to come back online.

But it has to finish because I have it downloaded on another computer. When I downloaded it on that other computer it downloaded pretty fast and on my other computer it started to download pretty fast and now it's at nothing. So what's going on?

Unless you are actively seeding on the other PC, just having the file downloaded means nothing.

But then how come the first time I downloaded it without any problems and now it all of a sudden stops at 63%.

just because you are connected to seeds dosent mean that the people that are seeding the file has the bandwith to upload to at that time.
an example would be someone that has 7 torrents seeding but 2 or three of them will have a higher request and these seeds are using all his bandwith on those torrents so no extra speed for you till those seeds loose priority or finish uploading freeing up his bandwith . maybe the first time you downloaded it and it went fast was cause the peers with seeds for that torrent had the extra bandwith to send you data

Because there were seeders when you first downloaded it but now there are not. Happens all the time.
