Hello!

I recently went to a conference and they had given all the delegates pendrives with the conference logos and stuff.

The manufacturer of the Pendrive isn't known so the pc says it is generic

I plugged in the Pen drive to my system today for the first time, and Windows gives me a sound to show there is a drive plugged in , and the installation continues.

After its completion, I go to my computer to open the drive.

It is not to be found!!!

So i went to Device manager and the devices and printers and they both show that i have a drive plugged in.

So I go to check the Disk Management

It gives me this message.

If I trigger the drive by using the drive letter in run. It gives me this message.

Yup.. looks like the drive controller is intact.. hence the drive letter and so on.. but there is no actual volume, if you look closer at the drive management screenie. i7Baby's advice is probably best in this case!

ya with windows -- I get these pen drives that windows don't want to use like the old '' this drive is write protected'' and wount let you format it or nothing , but I stick them in a Linux computer find the drive click format it does its thing remove it and stick it back in to windows and guess what ?? it works as expected then with out any more ''issues ''

so now I assume its a Microsoft bug or some more of there proprietary crap blocking certain drives in some way

what I find funny is they don't want to work right in windows, but I use it [ or just format] in Linux with out issues then after that they work fine in windows after that . no issues ?????
crazy

its kind of like the optical drives that would not accept certain brands of media but if you were to write to that media on a drive that would it would then read and use it
