Im having GPU power connector problems

So I've put an XFX R9 280x GPU and a CoolerMaster V550s PSU in my first computer build but cant figure out for the life of me how to connect the two, the GPU instructions very specifically say to use 2 individual 6pin connectors ór 2 individual 8pin ones, bc the 2 connectors supposedly need seperate power feeds, sure ok. But the card itself only has a single 6pin and a single 8pin! So while I figure using the 8 pin slot as a 6 to go 2x6 works but in that case the 8pin connector on the card would be utterly pointless because you cant use it without a second 8 pin?
To compound my troubles the PSU does have 2x 6+2pin connectors so it should be able to go upto 2x8 but they seem to run from one and the same cable so that might not be ok either?

Solution

You will be fine without have separate cables since you have a decent quality psu.

I didnt say anything about adapters?
Also I wóuld use the PSUs cables like that except the instructions clearly state that two seperate power cables are required so unless thats not actually true [in the same way XFXs 750watt requirement for the card is nonsense?] Id rather not just roll with that~

That sounds like a bizarre cable config. Just check that your 8 pin connectors run from a rail that can supply enough power, a 8 pin is 150w
and 6 is 75. so if your rail can support 225 then your laughing.

although it only needs to support your card requirements xxxwatts-75 from the board, whatever the left over power is, if your rail can do it then your good to go.
