Hi guys:

I am in the process of building a new computer for my home studio. I decided to go with the Gigabyte 78LMT-USB3 motherboard and the AMD FX 8 - Core 8320E processor.

The Mic I am using is the Audio - Technica - AT2020 Cardioid Condenser microphone.

I am using two mixers. One for sound and one for recording. The mixers I am using are Behringer Xenyx 802 and a Behringer Xenyx 1002.

Now, it’s time for me to choose a sound card and that’s the purpose of this thread. To ask people opinion. Previously I have always used the M – Audio Audiophile 192 internal soundcard but after speaking with a couple of people they are telling me that M-audio’s drivers are wishy-washy (in professional terms) and the sole purpose is to upgrade. So, should I get another M-audio card or should I look elsewhere? Should I get an internal or external? How is one better than the other?

I would like to keep it around $100.

I appreciate your guys feedback in advance.

Welcome to Tom's!
I do not know much about recording and sound, but I have had good results with music (as in listening to Classical, New Wave, Old rock and roll) with the Creative cards.
You might want to take a look at this one;

Here's a slightly lesser version:

Others have had good results from the ASUS cards, but I have no first hand experience with them; other forum members should be able to help.
Hope this helps.
