The green series is specifically designed for data storage and economy. If anything they are more reliable than either the blue or black series. Spinning at a slower rate offers less chance of corrupted data. Blue series are meant as general, all purpose hdd, black for best performance, red for raid/Nas, etc. Green drives are most common for office/business usage, run and used consistently for 8+ hrs a day, 7 days a week where data integrity and volume is of much more importance than the transfer speeds required for gaming purposes.

According to what i read on forums, the green series have the highest fail rate of all caviars. They are made out of salvaged parts that aren't fit for the higher series (not official information from WD of course). There's nothing bad about it, most tech companies do that, GTX 970 is a faulty GTX980 with some disabled units, GTX 980Ti is a faulty Titan X die, R9 280 is a faulty R9 280X, etc. and they all work great.
