hy,

First my hardware:

gpu: 2 GTX 970 msi gaming 4GB
cpu: I7 3820 @ 3.6 - with intel watercooling
ram: 4x4gb DDR3 1866Mhz (corsair vengeance)
mobo: asus p9x79 DELUXE
psu: Anteg High Current Gamer 900W ATX23

So first I had motherboard beep codes (but they stopped now). Then I got a windows update and since then my pc is unstable. It crashes during small games and high end games, or even when i'm just browsing.

First bsod was bsod driver_irql_not_less_or_equal
2nd was without any error message and then a 3rd one (forgot the error code :s ).

I also recently (a month ago) reinstalled windows because to many junk files on my pc.

So I already used memtest85 and get 0 errors, also my hard drives are good (CristalDiskInfo).

1 time I got a crash when trying out the 3D mark 4K benchmark (but I already did the test 3 times before that one). I recently got 2 new msi GTX 970 gaming 4GB gpu's.

After clearing my cmos today I tested with prime 95. This with 12gb in the setting. BSOD with bsod driver_irql_not_less_or_equal after 2 hours. CPU staid at a stable 60-65°C.

Anyone got an idea on what may be the issue?

Thanks a lot.

It could be your power supply. Do you have enough wattage in your power supply to run your components? I originally had a 100W power supply in an old computer & I was wondering why the computer froze at POST & in the BIOS, I soonly tried a 250W Dell power supply, & it fixed all the issues. Can you test your system with a different power supply? If not, it could be the motherboard.

It could, but sometimes you got to be careful on which Windows Updates you pick. That's why I always look on microsoft's site which update fixes which. Try uninstalling the update. Oh, & for preparation sakes, make sure you create a system restore point before installing Windows Updates.

Well, when you install microsoft updates. Only install the ones for Windows, not the recommended updates. I'm guessing you installed a recommended update that gave you the BSOD's.

Just to be sure I was first testing my gpu's. Took 1 out and tested it with 3D mark and vice versa. Both gave the same results so I guess they're working as they should. But no my display driver nvidia windows kernel mode keeps crashing --'.

Are my voltages any good?

1)3Vsb: 3.41V
2)Vbat: 3.3V
3)Vcore : 1.06V
4)+12V : 6.76V
5)AVcc: 3.36V
6)3Vcc : 3.34V
7)VIN1: 1.03V
8)VIN2: 2.04V
9)VIN3: 0.86

I don't know what this means.

edit: I got these values with speedfan 4.51 but now when i go and check my voltages with HWinfo64 I get for +12V : 12.288V. So here al the values I get from HWinfo64:

1)Vcore = 1.056V
2)+12V = 12.288V
3)AVCC = 3.360V
4)+3.3V = 3.344V
5)+5V = 5.160V
6)Vin6 = 0.832V
7)3VSB = 3.408V
8)VBAT = 3.296

Yes I reinstalled windows. But it seems that window is slow now. Like when you right click on desktop and click on nvidia control pannel it takes like 8 seconds before it opens. Also my windows(not the os) 'lag' sometimes when moving them around :s. Tested gpu's with 3D mark and they work so :s Also tested my cpu with the intel processor diagnostic tool and no error's were found, everything passed. So if it's hardware It's the mobo or the psu :s

Well, it can't be your processor because it's very fast. Or your GPU's either. Try this, run your computer in a barebone configuration, that means you run on 1 stick of RAM & try it in different slots, & boot off of linux off a flash drive to see how it performs. & then try your full 16GB of RAM.

You would boot linux off of the live enviroment off flash drive & test out different applications, you don't install it to the hard drive. If it's slow on the flash drive, then it's your hardware. Try replacing the motherboard if you get slowdowns. I had this No Signal issue on the login screen of Linux all the time, & it would never show the screen at all, I replaced the motherboard & that fixed it.
Try putting Linux Mint 17.1 on the flash drive.

Ok,

I just let windows calculate the WEI score and I noticed like a high pitch noise. At first I thought it was the SSD but when I came closer The noise came frome between the psu and the 2nd gpu. So it could be the mobo, psu or gpu. So I removed the 2nd gpu and tested again, still there. Then I switched to my 'old' gpu GTX 680. The pitch is still there but it's quiter if that makes sence. Maybe because the Gtx 680 need less power? It's doing this sound when it's testing the direct3D -stuff :p .

So with a cardboard tube from an empty paper towel I tried to localise the sound. And it's comming from the psu.

With the gtx 680 my windows are still lagging, so it's not the gpu's.

So is the psu causing problems because of the noise, or the ssd because it give 5.9 score :s

edit: I loaded up windows with 1 stick of ram, first testing each stick on the same slot, then testing the other slots that I would normaly use with 16GB. Al of the sticks and slots work. Probably later I'll try with linux. So my 4 ram sticks of 4G are all working and so are the ram slots on the mobo.

I ordered a new sdd and psu to test them out. They should arrive tomorrow

2nd edit: Also I had this problem a long time. In bios my 1866MHz automatically sets to 1333Mhz. When I leave the 'oc'? on auto and just change the ram speed to 1866MHz the pc restarts and keeps turning off until I press the on button. Then it restarts and says Overclicking failed. So I get back into the bios to change it.

I have Corsair Vengeance Pro 2x4GB RAM @1866Mhz, & by default in my BIOS, it is set to 1333Mhz. Try manually setting the DRAM frequency to 1866Mhz, that way the BIOS doesn't reset the memory speed. I did this, & it stayed like that. So you're narrowing down your choices, the SSD, the motherboard, & the PSU. Also, is your BIOS version updated to the latest version on your motherboard? What SSD did you have? Crucial, Kingston? It should be a well known & reliable brand.

hy,

I have a corsair neutron ssd 120,0Gb.

I removed all my RAM and turned on the pc but no mobo beeps come out :s

I tried setting my RAM to 1866 Mhz on manual. saved and restarted the pc and again constant turning on an turning of. This time with the VGA light turned on on the mobo. Then I pressed the startup button until it went out. Restarted and got the message overclocking failed... So I just can't put my ram to 1866Mhz. I'm also thinking maybe my build in 'speaker' is broken? Or it's just the mobo that's giving me all the troubles.

Most modern motherboards don't have an internal speaker, therefore you'll probably need to require a pc internal motherboard speaker. Or if there's a setting for enabling the speaker in the BIOS, you could do that. & about the overclocking failed. Update your BIOS to the latest version to see if the overclocking issue is fixed.
