I want to know i underwent the crucial updrade thing where it said my compatibility and it came up with ram that was ddr2?

i already have 4gb ram and i was wondering if i can go to ddr3 ?
as this would really annoy me if i couldnt

You cannot add DDR3 to DDR2 system. DDR2 is old and hardly around anymore. It is tough to say if you can add more ram it is mobo specific. What is the mobo or make/model of the system? Also how much ram do you have currently?

You can add a total of 4 more gb of ram. It must be PC2-6400 ram or DDR2 800.

Make sure you're running a 64 bit system. I think if you're running a 32 bit OS you can only have 4gb of ram

It is the best ram for your mobo so no. If you upgrade your mobo you cannot get anything faster really. Unless you build a new computer with a new CPU. DDR3 will not work with the CPU or the mobo.

No. That mobo is for newer Intel CPUs the LGA1150 ones you have a LGA775 socket that takes DDR2 ram and nothing better.

Yes. Make sure it is OEM and the 64 bit version. You do not need Professional or Ultimate.

There is not much difference that you need to worry about except the H97 is better for future upgrades to the CPU.
H87 is for Haswell CPUs. H97 is for Haswell and Haswell refresh (Devil's Canyon) CPUs.
