i am running 4x4gb hyperblue kingston 1600. and i am going to buy 2x8gb evga 2400 to replace 2 of my older ones before i eventualy buy all 4 of the evga 8gb. my mobo supports all of the speeds. not that big of a deal really because i have more than enough. but the ram i am using is just old and my new pc deserves better. just wondering if i should wait until i can afford it all if its just going to downclock the speed. my mobo does support both sppeds.

like i said, not a big deal because i have more than enough. but i have went completely all out with this new pc. i just recylced my old ram and video card from my old pc. and im ready to replace it. my new mobo maxes at 64gb. which i know is completely unreasonable. its just a beautiful build that i have been ready to completely since i started.

Mix n match RAM is never a good idea. Either it doesn't work at all, or it works on a sub-par level.

the old ram and video card are going back into the old pc that i was using and im selling it to a friend. so that is what is buying the new ram and video card. i am fine with waiting until he has the money and then i can upgrade all of the way.
