Asrock mobo not detecting optical drive or SSD!

Greetings,

I'm trying to setup my new build - bought a new mobo, processor, ram, and ssd. I am using my old video cards and dvd drive. I have checked numerous times to ensure that the correct sata cables were connected to both my dvd drive and my ssd. I have tried the various sata ports on my mobo to no avail. I have messed around in BIOS as well, but it is still not detecting my dvd drive or my ssd. Additionally, my case fans are not working either.

At this point, I suspect I need to change things in the BIOS. Could someone familiar with this mobo's BIOS help me out? It has been a long time since I attempted to start a new build... my knowledge is terribly outdated! :(

My build:

Mobo - Asrock x99 Extreme4
SSD - Samsung 850 EVO

I wish I could provide more details, but I am currently not at home. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you all in advance!

''bought a new mobo, processor, ram, and ssd. I am using my old video cards and dvd drive''

also a old psu ?? or a old drive maybe needs a firmware update for newer boards ?? the opt. drive is not detecting but has it got power [light on it lit or tray works normally? ]
and to what was said above all it can take is one plug from the psu not pushed in all the way or incorrectly may affect things

I got a opt. drive that kinda acts that way sometimes its there some times not it has done this on 2 builds a 990fx and a intel z87 ? the drive just got to where it wants to work when it feels like but the opt drive always got power lights on and tray works normally just gets unrecognized from time to time .. [sadly theres no firmware update for it ]

it maybe just one of them things ?? old parts on a new build - a dvd drive is just 20 bucks or so then you will know if it the board in some way or just the drive ??

12 bucks after promo deal

Thank you for your replies. I forgot to mention that I got a new PSU as well. I have tried using different cables and such, but nothing works. Honestly, I don't even need a DVD drive; if I can just get my SSD to be detected, everything would be golden. :(

with out some kind of back up parts to test with all you can do is keep guessing .. I guess get a mulitmeter and learn how to check the psu you got to insure it at least getting power to the end of it leads ???

or a working computer to swap out your new psu to see if it works on it or still fails to work ??? with out a proses of elimination no telling what ends up at fault

Yah; I am at a loss. I may just end up taking it to a repair shop... I'm gonna hate myself though if it ends up being an UEFI/BIOS setting issue... lol

that " Additionally, my case fans are not working either." part may look like the 24 pin atx is not right ???? it can be finicky to plug up at times
and you never did say if the dvd drive was powered at all
or if you got a modular psu sometimes the plugs in the back of the psu may not be set in ???

with out being there for a look see hands on all I can do is guess myself on whats really going on .. sorry

No worries; I appreciate the help. My dvd drive wouldn't power up... seems like a psu issue. I am gonna mess around with it some more today and, if I fail, I'm just gonna have to take it to a repair shop.
