Can Mobo pins be bent without removing the CPU?

My friend helped me build a pretty high end rig a couple years ago. I spent around $1500-$2000 on it. Recently i noticed that i couldnt hear one of the fans. I opened up my PC while running and confirmed that the CPU fan wasnt on. I went to feel the heatsink and ever so slightly bent it sideways. And i mean slightly, it probably tilted 1mm. I heard the thermal paste crack a bit and my main monitor froze, while my second glithed out. ( one monitor is plugged into video card, one into motherboard. I cleaned the heatsink, replaced the fan, and then no boot. Still can hear hd andfans also turn on. I was gonna go buy a mobo speaker so i could troubleshoot but instead i dropped it off at a local shop. They called me later saying that they found 3 bent pins on the motherboard and sent me a picture. They said they are going to see if it is possible to fix it, and will call me today.

Im just a bit confused as to how this happened. The cpu was only put in once, and it was obviously right as my pc worked for 2 years. It also worried me a bit that the person asked me 3 times if i have ever removed the cpu and of course i said no. Just curious as to if this makes sense or not. Can pins only be bent through taking the cpu off? As i hardly nudged the heatsink at.

Also, not exactly sure on my motheboard but its an asus asrock extreme.

Tl;dr, nudged heatsink very slightly when pc was on, crashed pc, then wont boot. Pc shop says cpu pins are bent even though i have never taken it out

Thankyou

I am sorry, whatever you did, it immediately had a detrimental effect, maybe you are stronger than you though. Saw your hand turned green? :D

The only logical thing I can think of is, the CPU wasn't locked down property to begin with or it has become loose so when you pushed the heatsink, it "took" the cpu with it. I can see this happen specially if you have one of them 100LB cooler.
