Graphics Card compatibility with Intel Desktop Board DH61WW

Hey guys,
I have this motherboard since quite a few years and i want to upgrade my setup to play some of the latest games like GTA 5, Witcher 3 and a few FPS games.
The intel website states that it has a PCIe 3.0 x16 slot. So... does that mean i can install a modern gpu like an R7 260x or 750ti?

If yes could you guys suggest a good GPU at the $150 price point.
I have an intel i5 2400 cpu at 3.1 GHz and intel onboard graphics 2000
I have 4GB of ram which i will upgrade to 8
And i have a 350W PSU to power it all

Here's the card I use with my I5 2400 and it works great for the price,..
and I am guessing your MB may only have a 2.0 express slot

I haven't played GTA 5 or Witcher 3 yet but it works very smooth with Skyrim,Bioshock Infinite,Mass Effect 3,.
1080p 1920 resolution,..but I haven't gone higher with the resolution setting,..60pfs ,..no problem,.
Also I would measure the inside for your case to see how much room you have to play with,.
