i7-4790 (non-K) compatibility with ASUS z87-Pro

Hi All,
I just purchased an i7-4790 (non-K version) and an ASUS z87-Pro Motherboard (both were on sale so I took the plunge).

I am now worried that I didn't do the research (foolishly) and the Mobo won't support the processor.

Can anyone verify if the motherboard will work (without update to BIOS)? I have no other processor with which I could update the BIOS.

The ASUS Z87 Pro support USB BIOS flashback without the cpu or ram installed. You would just need the 24 pin ATX cable plugged in and the USB device containing the latest BIOS file.
You just need a BIOS version later than 1802.
Whether your motherboard comes with a version 1802 or later depends on your luck.
