Original system: Asus p8p67 mobo, intel core i5-2500k cpu, Seagate st3500413as hd, 4x2gb corsair cmx8gx3m4a memory.
New system: ASRock z77 extreme4 mobo using cpu, hd, and memory as above.
I don't want to reinstall all programs because of the time required. All I'm changing is the mother board.

You ideally still have to reinstall your window OS completely to reduce chance of driver conflicts.
Also since you are changing your motherboard, if you have an OEM licence, you will need a new window licence unless you have a retail version of Windows. The licence is locked to your motherboard.

I used the "sysprep" subroutine in Windows to strip all the drivers out. Then installed the new mobo. It started and then I installed the new drivers for the new mobo and now everything works. I still have some tweeking to do but I did not have to re-install Win7 or any of my original programs. The only problem presently is I can't find a driver for the ethernet controller to connect to the 'net. When the new mobo booted to the old hd all I was asked for was my product key. It works. Since I can't find a driver as mentioned, I am using a back-up computer to answer this message.
