GTX970 in PCIe 2.0 slot

Will I lose much potential of my new graphics card if I put it in my PCIe 2.0 slot of my Rampage III Gene motherboard?

It should run just as well as it would in a PCIe 3.0 slot. Any difference in performance would probably be very insignificant.

You get maybe 10% better performance with PCIe 3.0, but you'll never see the difference in the real world.
