I am getting a corsair 450D case and I am only getting one hdd, one optical drive, and an ssd but that is mounted out of the way. There are two 5.25 spaces, and 3x 3.5 spaces, so what I want to do is store the HDD in the second 5.25 space and take out the 3.5 hdd storage cage to help with air flow. I was wondering if the optical drive will effect the hard drive or if the hard drive will effect the optical drive in any adverse ways being that they are in such close proximity before I go ahead and get the converter kit.

Solution

Absolutely no problem! No interference electrically, magnetically, optically, or otherwise.

Oh okay, I was just worried about the laser from the optical drive messing with the magnets in the hdd or vice versa.
