Cannot reinstall video card drivers

I've been having issues with my video card ever since I updated my drivers. I just tried uninstalling the drivers using DDU, but now when I try to install the drivers again, I get a message saying that the installer could not find compatible graphics hardware.

In Device Manager, I can only see "Standard VGA graphics adapter" under my display adapters.

GPU does seem to be drawing power since the fans are running (in fact, they're running a lot louder than usual).

My system specs are below:
CPU: Intel Core i5-4690 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler
Motherboard: Asus Z97-A ATX LGA1150 Motherboard
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory
Storage: Samsung 840 EVO 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
Video Card: Asus GeForce GTX 970 4GB STRIX Video Card
Case: Corsair 300R ATX Mid Tower Case
Power Supply: SeaSonic M12II 750W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply
Optical Drive: Lite-On iHAS124-14 DVD/CD Writer
Wireless Network Adapter: TP-Link TL-WDN4800 802.11a/b/g/n PCI-Express x1 Wi-Fi Adapter

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

UPDATE: after reading online for a bit, decided to try opening up my case and re-set the card in the pcie slot. So far, it looks like the driver installer is working now. Hoping for the best -- will post back later after testing things.

Solution
If the issue ever appears again. Install Driver Sweeper. Uninstall the drivers, restart your PC. Boot into safe mode and run Driver Sweeper. Tell it to clean and remove any remaining Nvidia drivers it finds. Boot back into windows normally and install the latest stable Nvidia drivers again. Make sure you select custom installation option and check the "Perform a clean installation" option. See if that helps at all. Good luck.

Thanks for the suggestion. That's actually pretty close to what I did -- only difference is that I ran DDU instead of Driver Sweeper. For future reference, any major differences between the two, or are they more or less interchangeable?

As for my card, happy to report that things seem to be working fine at the moment :)

To reiterate the solution in case anyone else reading this has a similar problem with drivers: first I completely uninstalled the existing drivers (see Zeriu's post above for details on how to do this), and then when I ran into problems with the installation not detecting my hardware, I opened up my case, removed and reinserted the gpu into the pcie slot, and then was able to install the drivers normally (again, see Zeriu's post above for more details).

I don't exactly know what DDU is. For a clean removal of any old video drivers I have always used driver sweeper. Works for both AMD and Nvidia cards as well as other drivers.
